The SECO 02960739 is a WNMG432-MF4 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr multilayer stack under the Duratomic coating classification. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade and is designed for precision metal-turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features an 80-degree trigon shape (W), a neutral hand orientation, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius, making it a versatile choice for medium to finishing cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert into compatible WNMG-style toolholders for production turning of steel and related workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for facing, boring, and turning applications in both job-shop and production environments. Its MF4 chip breaker geometry is optimized for low-to-medium feed rates on steel (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). The negative rake geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style deliver stable cutting forces and extended edge life across P10, P20, P30, and P35 material grades. Six cutting edges per insert maximize cost efficiency per edge in high-volume turning programs.
Designed for use in WNMG-style toolholders compatible with a 432 insert size (1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thickness). Insert holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever lock systems. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer's specification when securing the clamping screw — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamp components for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge alignment.
