The SECO 02960721 is a CNMG432-MR6 series indexable turning insert designed for medium to heavy-duty metal cutting operations. It is manufactured from solid carbide and features a multilayer CVD Duratomic coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life in high-heat cutting environments. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a negative rake geometry. Four cutting edges are available per insert, making it a cost-effective option for production turning. The MR6 chip breaker is designed to manage chips effectively across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10.
This insert is suited for turning, boring, and facing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in production and job shop environments. It is rated primarily for steel (ISO P grade) and is also applicable to stainless steel and cast iron as secondary workpiece materials. Compatible material grades include P10, P20, P30, and P35. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style provides a balance of edge strength and surface finish quality. The insert seats using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods, making it compatible with a wide range of standard CNMG toolholders.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use a torque wrench appropriate for the toolholder clamping system to avoid over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert edge.
