The SECO 02960681 is a CNMG322-M3 geometry solid carbide turning insert with a TP2501 grade designation and a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. It provides 4 usable cutting edges per insert and is manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style combined with the M3 chip breaker geometry makes it well-suited for steel and stainless steel turning applications across a range of material grades including P10, P20, P30, and P35.
This insert is intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in both production and job shop environments. It supports boring, facing, and turning operations and is designed primarily for steel workpieces, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron. The M3 chip breaker accommodates medium-depth roughing and finishing passes. The insert can be held using clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods depending on the toolholder configuration in use.
