The SECO 02960586 is a WNMG432W-MF5 series solid carbide turning insert in grade TP1501, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. With a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 1/32-inch corner radius, and 80-degree trigon shape, this insert is engineered for negative rake toolholders. Six available cutting edges extend tool life and reduce per-edge cost. The MF5 chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge make it well suited for finishing and medium turning of steel and cast iron. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel as the primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for cast iron and hard materials. It carries an ISO material grade designation of P10 and P20, placing it in the light-to-medium steel cutting range. The WNMG series geometry is compatible with clamp, pin, and lever-lock style toolholders. The wiper edge feature helps produce improved surface finish at higher feed rates, making this insert a practical choice for finishing passes where cycle time and part quality both matter.
Designed for use in negative-rake WNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock clamping. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications. Primary workpiece material is steel (P10, P20); secondary workpiece materials include cast iron and hard materials.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators following standard insert-indexing procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert clamp or lever-lock mechanism. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
