The SECO 02960550 is a WNMG332-M5 indexable turning insert engineered for general and interrupted-cut turning on CNC lathes and boring bars. It features a solid carbide substrate with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — designed for extended tool life in continuous and semi-interrupted cuts. The insert follows the WNMG (W-shape, trigon) geometry with an 80-degree included angle, a 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N), and an M-tolerance class for consistent seating. With six available cutting edges and an M5 chip breaker geometry, this insert is suited for medium roughing to semi-finishing operations across a broad range of depth-of-cut conditions. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is designed for primary use on steel (ISO P-class, material grades P10 through P35) and is rated for secondary use on stainless steel (ISO M-class) and cast iron (ISO K-class). Multi-use applications include turning, facing, and boring. The 0.0315-inch corner radius and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style make it suitable for moderate surface finish requirements in production environments. It is compatible with WNMG-style insert pockets accepting clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine fully stopped and in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before tightening the clamping mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before each insert change to ensure consistent seating and edge repeatability.
