The SECO 02960547 is a CNMG644-MR7 indexable turning insert in grade TP2501, designed for high-productivity metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life and thermal resistance. It carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a negative rake geometry and a T-Land cutting edge style. The MR7 chip breaker geometry is optimized for consistent chip control across a range of feed and depth-of-cut conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in standard CNMG-compatible toolholders.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Material grade classifications P10, P20, P30, and P35 indicate suitability across a spectrum of steel cutting applications, from finishing to roughing passes. The insert is rated for a maximum depth of cut of 0.6969 inches and accommodates insert length values in the 0.70 to 10.0-inch range of compatible toolholder reach. It meets both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO designation of CNMG190616-MR7 and an industry standard number of CNMG644-MR7.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CNMG644-MR7 style toolholders that accept inserts with a 3/4-inch inscribed circle, 1/4-inch insert thickness, and a 0.3118-inch hole diameter, using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fastener for the toolholder clamping system — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder seat and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and runout control.
