The SECO 02960533 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SNMG-MR7 series, designed for general-purpose metal cutting in CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TP2501 grade designation and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating (TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr) that extends tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The insert has a 5/8 inch inscribed circle, a 3/64 inch corner radius, a negative rake geometry, and a T-Land cutting edge style. Eight usable cutting edges per insert keep tooling costs down in high-volume turning operations. The MR7 chip breaker geometry is suited for medium-range depths of cut.
This insert is intended for boring, facing, and turning applications on CNC turning equipment in industrial and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). Recommended material grades are P10, P20, P30, and P35. Maximum depth of cut is 0.5787 inches. The insert is compatible with toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods, making it a versatile fit across a wide range of standard SNMG toolholder setups.

Machinist or CNC setup technician should power down the spindle and follow lockout procedures before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before installing a fresh insert edge. Verify insert seating and runout before resuming cuts.
