The SECO 02960508 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG432-M5 series, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ISO and ANSI standards, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a negative rake geometry and a neutral hand orientation. The TP1501 grade is applied with a CVD-deposited Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, optimizing wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous cutting. With 4 cutting edges per insert and an M5 chip breaker, it delivers consistent chip control across a broad range of feeds and depths of cut up to 0.5787 inches. It is installed by machinists and CNC turning technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning operations including back turning, boring, facing, and general turning. Its primary target workpiece material is steel, including P10 and P20 material grades, with secondary capability on cast iron and hard materials. The M5 chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge make it well matched to medium-depth roughing and semi-finishing passes in high-volume production settings. The insert accommodates clamp, pin, and lever lock holding methods, providing flexibility across common toolholder configurations used in industrial turning operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for DNMG-series toolholders accepting a 432 insert size with pin, clamp, or lever lock retention. Primary workpiece material is steel; secondary workpiece materials include cast iron and hard materials.
