The SECO 02960497 is a CNMG642-M5 series indexable turning insert designed for medium to heavy-duty metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is manufactured from solid carbide and coated using a CVD process with a Duratomic multilayer coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, assigned manufacturer grade TP2501. The insert geometry is neutral hand with a negative rake, an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge. It features four usable cutting edges and is compatible with clamp, pin, and lever lock holding systems. Installers and tooling specialists working in precision machining environments select this insert for steel-focused turning, facing, and boring operations.
This insert is suited for roughing and semi-finishing applications on steel workpieces, with secondary capability on stainless steel and cast iron.
