The SECO 02960488 is a CNMG433-M5 series indexable turning insert designed for steel, stainless steel, and cast iron machining operations. Built from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, this insert carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade and is engineered for reliable performance across roughing and semi-finishing applications. The 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation suits a wide range of toolholders. Four cutting edges extend tool life between index cycles. A chamfered and honed cutting edge style balances edge strength with surface finish quality. The M5 chip breaker geometry manages chip control effectively across varying depths of cut.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in production environments. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron. Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 define the recommended application range, covering light to heavy cutting conditions in ferrous materials. Indexable insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and at a full stop before any insert change. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and secure with the appropriate clamping method before resuming operation. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris before each index to ensure proper insert support and edge repeatability. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw.
