The SECO 02960480 is a WNMG432-MR7 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade, which targets steel and stainless steel machining at P10 through P35 material grades. The insert features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a negative rake angle, a 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N), and an MR7 chip breaker geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style. With six usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers a low per-edge cost in production turning environments. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches.
This insert is suited for general-purpose CNC lathe and turning center applications including boring, facing, and external turning. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary applications cover stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). The MR7 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-depth finishing and semi-finishing passes. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the ISO designation WNMG080408-MR7. Typical users are CNC machinists and toolroom operators in job shops, production machining facilities, and maintenance operations.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for WNMG432-MR7 toolholders and cartridges that accept negative-rake trigon inserts with clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. Verify toolholder pocket geometry against the WNMG (W-shape, N-clearance, M-tolerance, G-hole) specification before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the toolholder style (clamp, pin, or lever lock) to ensure proper seating. Inspect the pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before inserting a new edge.
