The SECO 02960465 is a CNMG434-MR7 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. Carrying the TP2501 grade designation, this insert is engineered for negative-rake cutting operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) provides four usable cutting edges per insert, keeping tooling cost per edge low in high-volume production environments. The MR7 chip breaker geometry combined with a T-Land cutting edge style controls chip flow across a wide range of feed and depth combinations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in general turning, facing, and boring applications will find this insert suits moderate to heavy material removal.
This insert is suited for medium-duty to roughing passes on steel alloys (ISO material group P, grades P10 through P35) and is also rated for stainless steel (ISO group M) and cast iron (ISO group K). Typical applications include external turning, internal boring, and facing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left-hand and right-hand toolholders. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.4449 inches, making this insert appropriate for both semi-finish and roughing passes without a tool change.

Insert installation and indexing should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the toolholder secured in the turret. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer for lever-lock, pin, or clamp-style retention. Verify seating of the insert in the pocket before resuming cutting operations. Worn or chipped inserts should be indexed or replaced immediately to avoid workpiece damage or toolholder pocket wear.
