The SECO 02960443 is a solid carbide triangular turning insert in the TNMG-M5 series, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life in interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features a neutral hand orientation, a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, and a 0-degree relief angle (clearance code N). With six available cutting edges per insert and an M5 chip breaker geometry, this insert delivers controlled chip flow across a range of feed rates and depth-of-cut conditions. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards under ISO code TNMG220404-M5.
This insert is suited for machining steel as its primary workpiece material (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). Applicable material grades span P10, P20, P30, and P35. It supports multiple operations including turning, facing, boring, and back turning, making it appropriate for general-purpose production turning in job shop and production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in industrial, aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing settings are the typical end users. Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tool-room personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new edge.
