The SECO 02960436 is a CNMG642-M3 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. Designated grade TP1501, this insert is engineered for productive metal removal on steel and cast iron. It features an 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C), a neutral hand orientation, a 3/4-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The M3 chip breaker geometry pairs a chamfered and honed cutting edge with negative rake for stable, controlled cuts across roughing and semi-finishing operations. Four available cutting edges extend tool life per insert.
This insert is suited to general-purpose CNC turning centers and manual lathes used in metalworking applications including turning, facing, and boring. Primary target workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P), with secondary suitability for cast iron (K) and hard materials (H). ISO material grades P10 and P20 define the ideal operating window. The CNMG style and ANSI/ISO standard geometry make it compatible with standard CNMG toolholders used across production and job-shop environments. MOQ is 10 inserts; each package contains 1 insert.
Designed for use in standard CNMG toolholders accepting a 3/4-inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever-lock styles. Industry standard number CNMG642-M3 and ISO code CNMG190608-M3 apply. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Indexable insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered off and locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Seat the insert firmly in the pocket and secure with the appropriate clamp, pin, or lever-lock mechanism before any spindle operation. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or burrs that could prevent full seating. Do not attempt to regrind or reseat a fractured insert.
