The SECO 02960384 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning operations. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer CVD Duratomic coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The insert has a diamond 80-degree shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 7-degree relief angle, and a sharp cutting edge style with a positive rake. With 2 cutting edges per insert and a screw-type holding method, it delivers consistent performance across high-volume turning runs. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists working in steel and stainless steel applications will recognize this as a workhorse general-purpose insert.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations on steel (ISO P material code), stainless steel (ISO M), and cast iron (ISO K). It is a multi-tipped insert appropriate for production environments where tool change frequency and cost-per-edge matter. The F1 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in light to medium depth-of-cut passes. The ISO code is CCMT060202-F1 and the industry standard number is CCMT21.50.5-F1, making cross-referencing with toolholder catalogs straightforward. Designed for use in CCMT-compatible toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, 7-degree clearance angle (clearance code C), tolerance code M insert. Primary workpiece material is steel; secondary workpiece materials are stainless steel and cast iron.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following shop safety lockout-tagout procedures before any insert change. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the retaining screw to the torque value specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for seating uniformity before resuming the cut. Do not use a damaged or improperly seated insert, as it can cause workpiece damage or ejection hazard.
