The SECO 02960095 is a VNMG332-M3 series indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in industrial machining operations. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. It carries a TP1501 grade designation and targets steel as its primary workpiece material. The diamond-shaped 35-degree included angle body holds four cutting edges, and the M3 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-depth finishing and profiling passes. The 0.0315-inch corner radius provides a balance between edge strength and surface finish quality.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes running steel, cast iron, and hard materials in production and job-shop environments. Typical applications include back turning, facing, profiling, and general OD turning. The neutral hand orientation makes it usable on standard right-hand toolholders without mirroring. The M3 chip breaker performs across a range of feed rates, making it practical for operations that shift between roughing passes and finishing cuts on the same setup. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.5748 inches, supporting both light and moderate stock removal.
Designed for use with VNMG-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever-lock systems. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary materials are cast iron (ISO K) and hard materials (ISO H). Material grades P10 and P20 apply.
Installation is performed by machining professionals following standard indexable insert seating procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping. Do not exceed the toolholder's rated clamping torque specifications as provided by the toolholder manufacturer.
