The SECO 02960092 is a WNMG432-M3 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. This insert is designed for external and internal turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a trigon (W) insert shape with an 80-degree included angle, a negative rake geometry, and a neutral hand orientation. The M3 chip breaker geometry is suited for medium-depth machining passes. With six usable cutting edges and a chamfered-and-honed edge preparation, this insert delivers consistent performance in demanding production environments. Installation and indexing are handled by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel workpieces (ISO material code P, grades P10 and P20). Secondary applications include cast iron (ISO code K) and hard materials (ISO code H). The WNMG432-M3 geometry supports boring, facing, and turning operations. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the equivalent ISO designation WNMG080408-M3. It is suitable for medium-production and job-shop environments where a single insert style needs to cover multiple operation types across ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed for use in WNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock retention. Compatible with toolholders specifying a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch insert thickness, and N clearance with M tolerance. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and seating requirements before indexing.
Indexing and installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine powered down, spindle locked, and all stored energy released before handling the insert pocket. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not substitute clamp screws or shims not rated for the holder style. Inspect the insert seat and chip groove for debris before seating a new edge. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure for clamp, pin, or lever-lock retention to ensure proper seating and prevent insert movement under cutting loads.
