The SECO 02960084 is a solid carbide triangular turning insert in the TNMG432-M3 series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TP1501 manufacturer grade with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — engineered to deliver thermal resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert features an M3 chip breaker geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches. With 6 usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers strong economy per edge for production environments. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in metal-cutting shops.
This insert is suited for roughing and semi-finishing passes on steel and cast iron workpieces, and is also rated for hard materials. Multi-use applications include turning, facing, boring, and back turning, making it a versatile option in general production turning and job-shop environments. The negative rake geometry and N clearance code provide robust edge support under interrupted or continuous cutting conditions. Primary workpiece material is steel (P-class), with secondary ratings for cast iron (K-class) and hard materials (H-class), covering a broad range of common lathe work.
Designed for use in TNMG-style insert pockets accepting a 432 size (ISO: TNMG220408-M3) triangular insert. Compatible with clamp, pin, and lever lock toolholders. Sold in a minimum order quantity of 10 units, packaged individually per unit. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before installing — contamination under the insert seat affects edge height and can cause premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the specific clamping style in use; do not over-torque lever lock or clamp screws.
