The SECO 02960055 is a WNMG332W-MF2 grade TP1501 solid carbide turning insert designed for high-productivity metal removal in steel and cast iron applications. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating (TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr) that improves wear resistance and thermal stability under continuous cutting loads. With a trigon (80-degree included angle) geometry, a 0.375-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315-inch corner radius, the MF2 chipbreaker geometry delivers controlled chip formation during finishing and semi-finishing passes. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style reduces edge build-up and extends tool life. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert for turning, facing, and boring operations.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning operations on steel (ISO material group P) as the primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for cast iron and hard materials (ISO groups K and H). The MF2 chipbreaker and negative rake geometry make it well matched to medium to light depth-of-cut applications, including finishing passes on workholding fixtures, shafts, flanges, and housings in job shop and production environments. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2283 inches. Compatible with WNMG-style toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods.
Designed for use in WNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock insert retention. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel (P10, P20), cast iron (K group), and hard materials (H group). Insert conforms to ANSI and ISO WNMG060408W-MF2 dimensional standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screw to seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket without over-torquing the retention hardware. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a fresh cutting edge.
