The SECO 02959956 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMU-M3 series, designed for precision metal cutting in demanding production environments. Carrying the TP1501 manufacturer grade, this insert features a multilayer CVD coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — marketed under the Duratomic coating classification. The diamond 55-degree insert shape with a negative rake and chamfered and honed cutting edge delivers controlled material removal across a range of operations. With four cutting edges and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it provides consistent performance and cost-effective edge utilization. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in turning centers and lathes are the primary end users.
This insert is suited for back turning, boring, facing, and general turning applications on steel and cast iron workpieces. It is rated for primary workpiece material code P (steel), with secondary ratings for code K (cast iron) and code H (hard materials), making it a practical choice for job shops and production machining cells running mixed material programs. The M3 chip breaker geometry supports medium cutting conditions. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris before each insert change.
