The SECO 02959943 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG-M3 series, designed for general-purpose external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during high-output cutting. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge for controlled entry and extended edge life. With four usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent performance across production runs targeting steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces.
This insert is suited for medium to semi-finish turning applications in both residential shop and industrial production environments. It is used across back turning, boring, facing, and standard turning operations. The M3 chip breaker geometry manages chip flow effectively in steel and stainless steel cuts, reducing the risk of built-up edge and chip recutting. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, precision machining facilities, and OEM manufacturing environments are the primary users of this insert.
Designed for use with DNMG-style clamp, pin, and lever lock toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P); secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). Recommended material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified seating hardware for the toolholder style — clamp, pin, or lever lock — to ensure proper insert seating and prevent movement under cutting load. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before each insert change.
