The SECO 02959942 is a DNMG433-M3 series indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. Carrying the TP1501 manufacturer grade, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape (Shape Code D), a negative rake geometry, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With 4 usable cutting edges and an M3 chip breaker geometry, it is engineered for productive material removal in turning, facing, boring, and back-turning operations. It meets both ANSI and ISO standards under the ISO designation DNMG150412-M3.
This insert is primarily intended for machining steel (ISO material code P, grades P10 and P20) and is also rated for cast iron and hard materials (ISO codes K and H). It is suited for use in CNC lathes and turning centers in production machining environments, including both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The M3 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of depths of cut up to 0.5630 inches. Installation and indexing is performed by licensed machinists or CNC toolroom technicians.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever-lock systems. Verify toolholder pocket specifications against DNMG433 / DNMG150412 insert geometry before installation.
Indexing and installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a powered-down, locked-out state. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are free of chips and debris before seating the insert. Torque clamping screws per the toolholder manufacturer specifications only. Inspect each cutting edge for wear or chipping before indexing to the next edge.
