The SECO 02959940 is a DNMG432-M3 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr in the TP2501 grade. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a negative rake angle, 4 cutting edges, and an M3 chip breaker geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. It carries a 1/2-inch inscribed circle diameter, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. Designed for precision metal turning operations, this insert suits licensed machinists and tooling specialists working in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for back turning, boring, facing, and general turning applications on steel (ISO material code P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K). It carries material grade ratings of P10, P20, P30, and P35, making it a versatile choice across roughing and semi-finishing passes. The DNMG-M3 series geometry targets moderate to heavier chip loads in steel and stainless applications where reliable chip control and edge durability are priorities. Compatible with DNMG-series toolholders accepting clamp, pin, and lever-lock insert holding methods. Suitable for primary use on steel workpieces and secondary use on stainless steel and cast iron. Verify toolholder bore and seat geometry against the DNMG432 insert standard before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench per toolholder manufacturer specifications when securing the clamping screw, pin, or lever-lock mechanism. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to avoid premature edge failure.
