The SECO 02959932 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG-M3 series, designed for high-productivity metal cutting in CNC turning operations. It carries the industry standard designation WNMG431-M3 and ISO code WNMG080404-M3. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — paired with the TP2501 manufacturer grade. The 80-degree trigon (W) insert shape provides six cutting edges, a negative rake geometry, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style for reliable performance in steel and stainless steel applications. The M3 chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium-range cutting conditions across boring, facing, and turning operations.
This insert is suited for use in production CNC turning centers handling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Material grade designations P10, P20, P30, and P35 confirm its range from light finishing through medium-roughing passes. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand toolholders configured for WNMG-style inserts. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production insert for WNMG-style toolholders accepting clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Primary workpiece material is steel (P-class); secondary materials include stainless steel (M-class) and cast iron (K-class). Material grades P10 through P35 define the applicable cutting range.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamping mechanism — do not force or overtighten. Inspect the insert seat and clamping pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge positioning.
