The SECO 02959917 is a CNMG433-M3 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries manufacturer grade TP2501, an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge for reliable chip control across a wide range of cutting conditions. The insert features four cutting edges with an M3 chip breaker geometry, making it well-suited for general-purpose steel and stainless steel turning at moderate to aggressive depths of cut up to 0.4606 inches. Qualified machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is designed for use in boring, facing, and turning operations on steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. It fits within the CNMG series toolholders requiring a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. Recommended material grades are P10, P20, P30, and P35. The M3 chip breaker geometry supports medium roughing to finishing cuts, making it a versatile choice for job shops and production turning cells running a variety of ferrous materials.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and all power is locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and tighten the clamping mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate torx or hex key. Inspect the insert seat and chip groove for debris before seating a new edge to prevent premature edge failure.
