It is manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a multi-layer CVD coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr under SECO's Duratomic coating classification. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a negative rake geometry, and a honed cutting edge. With a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, and four available cutting edges, this insert suits medium to general turning applications in production environments. It is typically installed by machinists and tool-room technicians working with CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is suited for primary use on steel workpieces (ISO material code P, material grades P01 and P10) and secondary use on cast iron (ISO material code K). Applicable operations include turning, facing, and boring. The M6 chip breaker geometry is designed for medium cutting conditions on these material groups.
