The SECO 02959841 is a WNMG431-MF2 series indexable turning insert designed for metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is manufactured from carbide substrate and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert carries a TP2501 manufacturer grade and an MF2 chip breaker geometry optimized for light-to-medium finishing and semi-finishing passes. With 6 cutting edges per insert, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0157-inch corner radius, it delivers consistent, repeatable results across high-volume production environments. CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this insert for its balance of edge security and surface finish performance.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel (ISO material code P) and is also suitable for stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K) applications. The MF2 chip breaker geometry supports boring, facing, and turning operations at light-to-moderate depths of cut up to 0.3346 inches. Its neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to both left- and right-hand toolholders. The insert holds to ISO tolerance code M and clearance code N, fitting standard WNMG-style toolholders with clamp, pin, or lever-lock retention systems. Applicable material grades include P10, P20, P30, and P35.
