The SECO 02959829 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMU-MF2 series, designed for steel and stainless steel machining on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The TP2501 grade uses a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — to deliver thermal resistance and flank wear control. The MF2 chip breaker geometry suits medium finishing to light roughing cuts. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert in clamp, pin, or lever-lock toolholders. It carries 4 cutting edges per insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. It falls in material grade classifications P10, P20, P30, and P35, covering a broad range of steel alloys encountered in production and job-shop environments. The negative rake and neutral hand orientation make it compatible with standard DNMU-style toolholders used in both roughing and finishing passes. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.4252 inches, giving the insert flexibility across multiple operation types on the same part.
Designed for use in DNMU-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick diamond insert with a 0.150-inch hole diameter. Compatible with back turning, boring, facing, and turning applications on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 10 units.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing any insert. Verify the toolholder pocket and clamping mechanism are free of chips and debris before installation. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for the selected operation type.
