The SECO 02959828 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMU-MF2 series, designed for high-productivity metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a 3/8 inch inscribed circle with a 1/64 inch corner radius. The CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. With four cutting edges and a chamfered-and-honed edge preparation, this insert suits machinists and tooling technicians running medium to roughing passes on steel and related materials.
This insert is intended for general turning applications including back turning, boring, facing, and straight turning. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing to medium cuts on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It carries ISO material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35, making it applicable across a broad range of ferrous workpiece materials in both production and job-shop environments. The insert seats via clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods, compatible with standard DNMU-style toolholders.
Designed for use in DNMU-style toolholders that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thick diamond insert with a 0.150 inch hole diameter. Suitable for primary workpiece material Steel (P) and secondary workpiece materials Stainless Steel (M) and Cast Iron (K) per ISO designation. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever lock systems.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications — do not over-tighten lever lock or clamp screws, as this can crack the insert.
