The SECO 02959823 is a DNMG432-MF2 indexable turning insert in grade TP2501, manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD Duratomic coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It features a 55-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code D), a neutral hand orientation, and a 0-degree relief angle with negative rake geometry. The MF2 chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style make this insert well suited to finishing and semi-finishing operations at moderate to high cutting speeds. With 4 usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers strong cost-per-edge value for production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators in metalworking shops are the primary installers and users.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, and back turning on steel as its primary workpiece material (ISO material group P), with secondary capability on stainless steel (group M) and cast iron (group K). It is best applied in ISO material grades P10 through P35. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for lighter depths of cut and controlled chip formation on steel and stainless, making it a practical choice for finish-pass work on shafts, flanges, and bores. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin lock, and lever lock toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders accepting clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter. Compatible with ANSI and ISO standard DNMG432 / DNMG150408 insert seats. Suitable for steel (P10-P35), stainless steel (M group), and cast iron (K group) workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or manual lathe operators. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping. Use the appropriate torque driver for the holding screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not use impact tools on insert clamps.
