The SECO 02959822 is a multi-tipped solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG-MF2 series, designed for high-productivity metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade and features a CVD-applied Duratomic coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for thermal resistance and edge wear protection. The 55-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code D) provides a favorable approach angle, while the MF2 chip breaker geometry supports medium finishing operations. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style improves edge stability under interrupted and continuous cuts. With 4 cutting edges per insert, this part delivers extended tooling value per piece.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations in both residential shop and industrial production environments. It is primarily rated for steel (ISO P-class) and secondarily rated for stainless steel and cast iron (ISO M and K classes), covering a wide range of common workpiece materials on general-purpose and production turning machines. Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 are supported. The insert is held by clamp, pin, or lever lock toolholders compatible with the DNMG pocket geometry. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tooling technicians are the primary users.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Industry standard number DNMG431-MF2 and ISO code DNMG150404-MF2 apply for cross-referencing compatible toolholder pockets.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the toolholder type; do not overtighten clamping screws with hand tools. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge registration and prevent premature failure.
