The SECO 02959821 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG-MF2 series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the industry-standard designation CNMG433-MF2 (ISO: CNMG120412-MF2) and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — for extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the MF2 chip breaker and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style support controlled chip formation in finishing and medium turning applications. With 4 usable cutting edges, this multi-tipped insert delivers consistent performance across boring, facing, and turning operations.
This insert is intended for primary use on steel (ISO P — grades P10, P20, P30, P35) and is also rated for secondary use on stainless steel (ISO M) and cast iron (ISO K). Typical applications include external and internal turning, facing, and boring on production turning centers in job shop and manufacturing environments. It is installed by machinists and CNC programmers working with standard CNMG-style toolholders. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with a broad range of holder configurations using clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque on the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
