The SECO 02959819 is a CNMG431-MF2 series indexable turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of ferrous materials. It features an 80-degree diamond shape, a negative rake geometry, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. The MF2 chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during finishing and medium turning passes. This insert is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10.
This insert is rated for primary use in steel (ISO P category) and carries secondary ratings for stainless steel and cast iron (ISO M and K categories). Applicable material grades span P10 through P35. It is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in production and job-shop environments where consistent tool life and predictable chip control are priorities. Designed as an OEM-style indexable replacement for CNMG431-MF2 seat toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick diamond insert with a 0.2028-inch hole diameter and N clearance, M tolerance designation. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping method before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC operators or tooling technicians. Ensure the lathe or machining center is fully powered down and the spindle is locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fastener for the clamping method — clamp, pin, or lever lock — to seat the insert correctly without cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new edge.
