The SECO 02959813 is a WNMG432-MF2 trigon turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries grade designation TP1501 and is designed for general turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features an 80-degree included angle, a negative rake geometry, a chamfered and honed cutting edge, and the MF2 chip breaker profile. With 6 usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers a low per-edge cost in production environments. Neutral hand orientation suits a wide range of toolholder setups.
This insert is suited for medium-duty turning applications in both job shop and production settings. Its primary workpiece material is steel, covering material grades P10 and P20. Secondary target materials include cast iron and hard materials. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light medium cuts, making it appropriate for dimensional turning passes where surface finish and chip control are critical. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure. Always index or replace inserts with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping method; do not overtighten clamping screws. Inspect the insert seat and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge height repeatability.
