The SECO 02959812 is a WNMG332-MF2 series solid carbide turning insert with a TP1501 manufacturer grade and a Duratomic CVD coating system consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr layers. The insert carries an 80-degree trigon shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0 degree relief angle, making it a negative-rake geometry suited for heavy, stable cutting conditions. With 6 cutting edges per insert and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, this insert is engineered to deliver consistent performance in medium to finish turning applications on steel and cast iron. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators using clamp, pin, or lever lock toolholding systems.
This insert is designed for multi-use machining operations including boring, facing, and turning. The MF2 chip breaker geometry targets finishing and light medium cuts on steel workpieces, and the TP1501 grade with Duratomic coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting parameters. It is suited for use on CNC lathes, turning centers, and manual lathes equipped with WNMG-compatible toolholders. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P), with secondary suitability for cast iron (ISO K) and hard materials (ISO H).

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool turret or holder is secured before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw or lever according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or wear before each insert change to avoid seating errors that can affect dimensional accuracy.
