The SECO 02959810 is a solid carbide triangular turning insert in the TNMG-MF2 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. It carries the TP1501 manufacturer grade with a Duratomic CVD multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert features a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With 6 cutting edges per insert and a negative rake geometry, it delivers consistent material removal rates across a range of ferrous workpiece materials. CNC machinists and toolroom operators install this insert in compatible TNMG-style toolholders for production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations on steel, cast iron, and hard materials. It is rated as a primary cutter for steel (ISO material code P, grades P10 and P20) and as a secondary cutter for cast iron and hard materials (ISO codes K and H). The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and medium finishing passes where controlled chip formation and surface finish are priorities. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO designation of TNMG160408-MF2 and an industry standard number of TNMG332-MF2.
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for TNMG insert geometry (ISO designation TNMG160408-MF2). Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts; packaged individually.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench for the clamping screw to secure the insert without cracking the carbide substrate — consult the toolholder manufacturer's specification for clamping torque. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge positioning.
