Product Description

The SECO 02959807 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMU-MF2 series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. The insert carries the TP1501 grade with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for thermal resistance and wear life. The MF2 chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge make it well suited for finishing and medium-duty turning operations on steel and cast iron. Four available cutting edges extend tool life per insert.

This insert is intended for use in steel, cast iron, and hard material applications across P10, P20, and K and H ISO material grades. It is used in back turning, boring, facing, and general turning operations. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for low-to-medium feed finishing cuts where controlled chip formation and surface finish are priorities. Typical installations are in production turning environments on CNC equipment operated by machinists and tooling technicians. The insert seats in DNMU-style toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods.

Key Features

  • TP1501 grade with CVD Duratomic TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr multilayer coating for extended tool life on steel
  • 55-degree diamond insert shape with 1/64 inch corner radius for versatile turning geometry
  • MF2 chip breaker with chamfered and honed cutting edge for controlled chip formation in finishing cuts
  • Four cutting edges per insert for maximum economy
  • Compatible with clamp, pin, and lever lock insert holding systems
  • Meets ANSI and ISO standards with ISO code DNMU110404-MF2

Compatibility

Designed for use in DNMU-style turning toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Suitable for primary workpiece materials in ISO P steel categories and secondary applications in ISO K cast iron and ISO H hard material categories.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of debris before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidance for clamping force and holding method to prevent insert movement during cutting.
