The SECO 02959804 is a DNMG432-MF2 series indexable turning insert manufactured in solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. Carrying the TP0501 grade designation, this insert is built for precision turning of steel and cast iron workpieces. It features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and four usable cutting edges per insert. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is designed to control chip flow during medium-to-fine finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert into compatible DNMG-style toolholders for production and job-shop turning operations.
This insert is suited for back turning, boring, facing, and general external turning applications on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. It is a neutral-hand insert, making it adaptable across a range of cutting directions. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style reduces insert chipping during entry and contributes to consistent surface finish quality. The MF2 chip breaker designation targets light-to-medium depth-of-cut finishing work where chip control and edge stability are critical. Typical use is in production CNC turning centers handling steel components where tight tolerances and repeatable tool life matter.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert holding methods. Compatible with multi-use applications including back turning, boring, facing, and turning on steel and cast iron workpieces. Industry standard number DNMG432-MF2 and ISO code DNMG150408-MF2 apply for holder cross-reference.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before inserting. Do not exceed the toolholder or machine manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut and feed-rate parameters for this insert geometry.
