The SECO 02959783 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT32.52-M5 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the TP1501 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer CVD Duratomic coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — engineered to extend tool life and improve wear resistance during steel and cast iron machining. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. Two cutting edges are available per insert. The M5 chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style make it well-suited for medium-to-finishing passes.
This insert is used in turning, facing, boring, and back-turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary materials include cast iron and hard materials (ISO K and H). It is appropriate for both roughing-to-finishing transitions and light continuous cuts in job shop and production environments. Material grades P10 and P20 place it in the medium-to-finishing range for steel. The screw-on holding method is compatible with standard DCMT-style toolholders.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-on toolholders. ISO code DCMT11T308-M5 and industry standard number DCMT32.52-M5 apply. Compatible with applications rated for P10 and P20 material grades. Verify toolholder clearance code C and tolerance code M before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screw for the toolholder; do not overtighten the clamping screw by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
