The SECO 02959771 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations including turning, facing, and boring. It carries the industry standard designation CCMT32.52-MF2 and the ISO code CCMT09T308-MF2. The insert features a diamond 80-degree shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 1/32 inch corner radius, and a 7-degree relief angle. The Duratomic CVD multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting environments. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and medium cutting depths.
This insert is suited for machining steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary capability on cast iron and hard materials. The MF2 chip breaker geometry performs well in light to medium finishing cuts where chip control and surface finish are priorities. Typical applications include external turning, internal boring, and facing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in production and job-shop environments. The insert is held by a screw-clamping method and fits standard CCMT-compatible toolholders. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in screw-clamp CCMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with toolholders accepting an insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 5/32 inch thickness, and a 0.1772 inch hole diameter. Material grades P10 and P20 make it appropriate for steel workpieces; secondary ratings cover cast iron (K) and hard materials (H).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to remove and replace the clamping screw without overtightening, as specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
