The SECO 02956342 is a multi-tipped solid carbide turning insert carrying the CNMG432W-FF2 industry-standard designation and TP2501 manufacturer grade. It features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — engineered for thermal resistance and wear life during continuous and interrupted cuts on steel. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code C) provides a strong cutting geometry, while the FF2 chip breaker and honed cutting edge style help manage chip flow across a wide range of feed and depth combinations. With four usable cutting edges, this insert delivers consistent per-edge economy for production turning operations.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning applications in CNC lathes and turning centers operating on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. It fits the CNMG-FF2 series toolholding system and is compatible with clamp, pin, and lever-lock holding methods. Primary application is steel (ISO material code P), with secondary capability on stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). It targets material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35, making it applicable across a broad range of finishing to semi-roughing passes in steel turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking and job-shop settings are the typical end users.
Designed for use in CNMG-FF2 series toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp, pin, or lever-lock retention. ISO equivalent designation is CNMG120408W-FF2. Applicable to steel (P10-P35), stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials per ISO material codes P, M, and K.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surface are free of chips and debris before seating the insert, as contamination can cause incorrect seating and premature edge failure. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.4764 inches, and verify insert orientation matches the neutral hand designation before clamping.
