The SECO 02956330 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-M5 series, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the industry standard designation CCMT432-M5 and ISO code CCMT120408-M5. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of cutting speeds. The 80-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle (clearance code C) and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style supports stable, predictable tool life in interrupted and continuous cuts. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the M5 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation in medium-duty passes.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel as its primary workpiece material (ISO P code), with secondary suitability for stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). The TP2501 grade maps to material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35, covering a range from finishing to roughing depths. It is screw-held in compatible toolholders and is appropriate for production environments where consistent chip control and coating durability are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop and production machining environments are the typical users.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 0.2205-inch (5.60 mm) hole diameter. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for CCMT insert geometry. Verify toolholder seating and clamp compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Before indexing or replacing the insert, power down the spindle and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to release the clamp screw; do not overtighten the screw beyond toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination in the pocket can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure.
