Product Description

The SECO 02956323 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TCMT series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TP2501 manufacturer grade and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — engineered to extend tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The triangular insert shape provides three usable cutting edges, and the MF2 chip breaker geometry suits light-to-medium finishing passes. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle (0.3750 inches) and 1/32-inch corner radius (0.0315 inches) place this insert in a standard mid-size format used across a wide range of production turning applications.

This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations in metalworking environments. Its primary workpiece material classification is steel (ISO P), with secondary ratings for stainless steel (ISO M) and cast iron (ISO K), covering material grades P10 through P35. The neutral hand orientation and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style make it appropriate for general-purpose external and internal turning setups in both production shops and job shops. It is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.

Key Features

  • CVD Duratomic coating (TiCN / Al2O3 / Cr) for extended wear resistance in steel and stainless steel cutting
  • Three cutting edges per insert — triangular TCMT insert shape with neutral hand orientation
  • MF2 chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing and light-to-medium roughing
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge style for edge stability and reduced built-up edge
  • Screw-holding method with standard center hole — compatible with TCMT-style toolholders
  • Multi-use application coverage: turning, facing, boring, and back turning

Compatibility

Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders. ISO code TCMT16T308-MF2 and industry standard number TCMT32.52-MF2 apply. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards for TCMT geometry toolholder seats.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before installing the insert. Torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not estimate by feel, as over- or under-torquing affects edge stability and can cause insert fracture.
