The SECO 02956321 is a TCMT-style triangular carbide turning insert designed for metal-cutting lathe operations in production and job-shop environments. Carrying the TP2501 manufacturer grade with a Duratomic CVD coating process combining TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr layers, this insert is built for reliable performance on steel as its primary workpiece material. The MF2 chip breaker geometry and chamfered-and-honed cutting edge style support stable chip control across finishing and light-roughing passes. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 3-number insert size code of 21.52, this is a screw-held, multi-tipped insert meeting both ANSI and ISO standards.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing back turning, boring, facing, and general turning operations. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across a range of toolholder configurations. Primary target workpiece material is steel, with secondary capability on stainless steel and cast iron. The positive rake geometry and MF2 chip breaker combination help reduce cutting forces, making this insert a practical choice for medium-tolerance turning work in P10 through P35 material grade applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in manufacturing and maintenance settings are the typical end users.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-clamping toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a 7-degree relief angle and 0.1142-inch hole diameter. Compatible with toolholder systems conforming to ANSI and ISO TCMT insert standards. ISO code TCMT110208-MF2 may be used for cross-reference to compatible international toolholder lines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw for the toolholder to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation and hand before resuming cuts.
