The SECO 02956320 is a triangular solid carbide turning insert in the TCMT-MF2 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Manufactured to the TCMT21.51-MF2 industry standard, this insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating (TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr) that extends tool life across demanding cutting cycles. The insert carries a TP2501 manufacturer grade and is rated for use across material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35, making it well suited to general steel turning at a range of depths and feed rates. It provides 3 usable cutting edges per insert, a 1/4 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64 inch corner radius with a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. Installation and setup are handled by machinists and CNC operators.
This insert is primarily intended for steel workpieces, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and medium finishing passes. Applicable operations include turning, facing, boring, and back turning, covering a broad range of lathe work in job shop and production environments. The screw-on insert holding method provides secure clamping in compatible TCMT-style toolholders. With a positive rake and neutral hand orientation, it fits a wide range of standard TCMT toolholder configurations used in both manual and CNC turning centers.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard stock insert for TCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch inscribed circle triangular insert. Compatible with toolholders and boring bars configured for TCMT21.51 (ISO TCMT110204) inserts.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and the turret is fully indexed and locked before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and chip breaker seat for chips or damage before each index or replacement.
