The SECO 02956312 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning centers and manual lathes. It carries a TP2501 grade designation with a Duratomic CVD multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which extends tool life during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius with an MF2 chip breaker geometry. It is suited for machinists and CNC operators running steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces at P10 through P35 material grades.
This insert is intended for light to medium turning operations including back turning, boring, facing, and general OD turning. The MF2 chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting with chamfered and honed edges, making it effective for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Primary application is steel (ISO P), with secondary capability on stainless steel (ISO M) and cast iron (ISO K). The neutral hand orientation and screw-mounted holding method allow use in standard DCMT-compatible toolholders across both ANSI and ISO tooling systems.
Designed for use in DCMT-compatible screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. ISO code DCMT070204-MF2 and industry standard number DCMT21.51-MF2 apply. Compatible with P10, P20, P30, and P35 material grade applications. Minimum order quantity is 10 units; each package contains 1 insert.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the toolholder seat and shim for damage before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
