Product Description

The SECO 02956307 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT series, designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual turning applications. It features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 1/64-inch (0.0157-inch) corner radius. The insert carries a CVD-applied Duratomic coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, placing it in material grades P10 through P35. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a maximum depth of cut of 0.3661 inches, it suits finish to medium roughing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in indexable toolholders for general turning work.

This insert is suited for primary use on steel workpieces and is rated for secondary use on stainless steel and cast iron. Typical applications include boring, facing, and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. The MF2 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during light-to-medium feeds. It complies with ANSI and ISO standards and carries ISO code CCMT09T304-MF2, making it cross-referenceable to ISO-standard toolholder systems.

Key Features

  • CVD Duratomic coating (TiCN / Al2O3 / Cr) for extended tool life on steel and stainless
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with positive rake for reduced cutting forces
  • MF2 chip breaker geometry for controlled chip evacuation on light-to-medium feeds
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge style for edge strength and surface finish
  • Two cutting edges per insert; screw-clamped mounting for repeatable indexing
  • Multi-use capable across boring, facing, and turning in a single insert style

Compatibility

Designed for use in CCMT-series indexable toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. ISO designation CCMT09T304-MF2 allows direct cross-reference to ISO-compliant toolholder systems. Industry standard number CCMT32.51-MF2 applies for ANSI toolholder matching.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and secure with the clamping screw before any cutting operation. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 0.3661 inches, and verify toolholder pocket condition and screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification.
