The SECO 02956305 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning operations. It features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — that extends tool life on ferrous materials. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius (0.0315 inches), and 2 cutting edges. Insert thickness is 3/32 inches (0.0937 inches) and insert length is 0.2559 inches. The MF2 chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting with a chamfered and honed edge. Screw-hold mounting and a clearance hole diameter of 0.1142 inches are standard. This insert is used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 02956305 is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations at light to medium depths of cut up to 0.2205 inches. The primary target workpiece material is steel, with secondary compatibility for stainless steel and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and K. Material grades P10, P20, P30, and P35 are covered. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand toolholders used in typical OD turning setups. The MF2 chip breaker is optimized for finishing and medium finishing passes where chip control and surface finish are priorities.
