The SECO 02923708 is a solid carbide round milling insert in the RPHT-12 series, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. Carrying manufacturer grade MM4500 with a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear protection suited to demanding cutting conditions. The round RPHT insert style features 6 cutting edges, a 12 mm inscribed circle (0.4724 inches), a thickness of 0.1874 inches, and a positive rake angle of 16 degrees with a T-Land cutting edge style. It mounts via screw holding and is a single-sided, neutral-hand insert. Machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers of this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for milling stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for steel, superalloys, and titanium. The M08 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions on these material groups. Cutter series compatibility is listed for R217.29-06 and R220.29-06 milling cutter bodies. It is suited to both roughing and semi-finishing passes where edge security and coating durability are priorities in aerospace, general machining, and stainless fabrication applications.
Compatible with SECO milling cutter series R217.29-06 and R220.29-06. Designed for machining steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S) per ISO material classification. ANSI and ISO code: RPHT1204M0T-6-M08.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified procedure when securing the insert screw — do not overtighten. Confirm insert seating and screw torque before resuming cutting operations.
