The SECO 02923700 is a solid carbide round milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation RPHT1204M0T-6-ME07, manufactured to SECO grade MS2050. The insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and NbN dual coating and a micrograin carbide substrate, giving it wear resistance and toughness in demanding milling operations. The round RPHT geometry provides a 12 mm inscribed circle, a 0.1874-inch thickness, and six cutting edges per insert. The positive rake angle of 20 degrees and the T-Land cutting edge style reduce cutting forces while the ME07 chip breaker geometry controls chip flow. This insert is used by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC milling applications where insert performance and edge life are critical.
This insert is designed primarily for milling superalloys and titanium, classified under primary workpiece material code S. It also performs in steel and stainless steel applications, material codes P and M respectively. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across setups. Typical install scenarios include face milling, shoulder milling, and contour milling on CNC machining centers where consistent chip breaking and positive rake geometry are needed for difficult-to-machine materials. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the milling cutter body is fully de-energized and the spindle is locked before seating or changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque on the insert screw — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure full contact and proper seating depth.
